Wendy’s – JEB Little Creek, Virginia Beach, Virginia
Photo description:
This is the Wendy’s (or McWendy’s) at 3600 D St. Virginia Beach, VA on Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story (Navy base).
This building originally housed a McDonald’s (opening in the 1980s along with the Naval Station Norfolk location), and was later converted to a Wendy’s.
It’s not common to see Wendy’s build out an existing building, especially a former McDonald’s building. Aside from the dining room layout (with a majority of the dining room situated to the right of the registers and kitchen), the inside is nearly indistinguishable from a traditional Wendy’s. The outside, on the other hand, still retains the mansard roof in the back half of the building, along with the original McDonald’s front doors.
