Electric security gates being installed at Yorktown Walmart

This is a very odd and pretty pointless addition to the half baked family of Walmart’s loss-prevention toys. Just about all of the stores in Roanoke have them and it looks like they’re coming here too.
What these do is automatically open when people are coming into the store, but do not open to people trying to go out and will sound a puny alarm if someone pushes the gate open (even trying to get in if the sensors don’t detect you). While I was at one of the Roanoke stores, I thought it would be funny to go out the gates instead of going around, and it didn’t disappoint because the greeter had a pretty priceless look on her face after instructing me to "go around". Ain’t nobody got time for that!
