Arby’s – Richmond, Virginia (Brook Road)
This is Arby’s # 497 at 5205 Brook Rd, Richmond, VA.
While this store recently received an extensive renovation, one thing that still remains is the iconic Big Hat sign, which has been restored and functions perfectly.
All of the Arby’s in and around Richmond are franchised by The Restaurant Company, and operate some absolutely amazing Arby’s locations (including the world’s largest Arby’s).
Most chains seem to cover up their history as much as possible, which irreversibly strips out iconic architecture and solid remnants of a different time (such as Holiday Inn and their "Great Signs") but I love that Arby’s seems to be perfectly cool with having these iconic signs still in place, and it’s even nicer to see a local franchisee that has an interest in keeping signs like this bright.
